APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS
Who does the CEF application procedure applies to ?
The CEF procedure applies to applicants of foreign nationality who do not possess the French baccalauréat and who are from one of the CEF member countries listed below:
Algeria, Argentina, Benin, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Congo-Brazzaville, South Korea, Ivory Coast, United States, Gabon, Guinea, Mauritius, India, Japan, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco,Mexico,Czech Republic,Senegal,Syria,Russia,Tunisia,Turkey,Vietnam,Taiwan.
Exemptions
The following foreign nationals are exempted from following the CEF procedure and can consequently send in their applications directly to the registry office of the university of their choice:
- Holders of the French bacalauréat (or other qualification that is deemed as a waiver by French regulations)
- European Economic Community students
- Students who are coming to France to study within the framework of a bilateral agreement which specifies the application procedure to be followed
- Scolarship holders of the French government, of international organisations or of foreign governments for which the scolararships are managed by a recognised French organisation
- Stateless persons or political refugees in possession of the French Office for refugees and stateless persons card (OFPRA: Office français pour les réfugiés et les apatrides)
- Children of diplomats working in France
Applying for admission to the 1st or 2nd year of the Bachelor’s degree
Applying for admission to the 3rd year of the Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or PhD
For all the above courses, online registration is obligatory regardless of the course of study requested.
Candidates must connect to the CampusFrance website which corresponds to that of their country of origin (example: www.algerie.campusfrance.org) and follow the instructions.
Applying for admission to the 1st or 2nd year of the bachelor’s degree (Licence 1ère ou 2ème année)
Applies to applicants of foreign nationality who do not possess the French baccalauréat
The following public of foreign nationality are exempted from following the CEF procedure and can consequently send in their applications directly to the registry office of the university of their choice:
- Holders of the French bacalauréat (or other qualification that is deemed as a waiver by French regulations)
- European Economic Community students
- Students who came to France to study within the framework of a bilateral agreement which specifies the application procedure to be followed
- Scolarship holders of the French government,of international organisations or of foreign governments for which the scolararships are managed by a recognised French organisation
- Stateless persons or political refugees in possession of the French Office for refugees and stateless persons card (OFPRA: Office français pour les réfugiés et les apatrides)

The application form duly completed,accompanied by the requested documentary evidence (refer to the explanatory notes) must be sent to the cultural services of the diplomatic post in your place of residence before the 31st of January 2011 deadline.

Applying for admission to the PhD program

Applicants can now register directly with the university of their choice and must present the diploma which gives them access to higher education in the country where it was obtained. It is recommended that applicants have a good level in French (see candidater à l'université de Rennes 1).

Applying for admission to the 1st or 2nd year of the Bachelor’s degree
If you are applying for admission to a course at the University of Rennes-1, you need to contact the International Office (44 bd de Sévigné in Rennes) in order to obtain a DAP application form (vert) between the 1st of December 2010 and the 15th of January 2011. Deadline for submission of applications: 31st of January 2011.
Please note that only applicants in possession of a residence card validated for at least one year will be given this document.
If the University of Rennes-1 is far from your home address,you can obtain this document at a university closer to you on presentation of a residence card validated for at least one year.
