INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

Foreign students at the UniversityThe University of Rennes 1 has an eminent international affairs policy. The figures below illustrate this trend:

  • Interuniversity bilateral agreements: 98 training and /or research bilateral agreements signed with foreign higher education institutions: Europe (27), North America (19), South America (9), Africa (23), Asia (15), the Near and Middle East (2)
  • International joint research collaborations with research teams in Western Europe and North America
  • Higher education mobility programmes: 180 Erasmus bilateral contracts (related to study and internship programmes), over 20 contracts within the  Framework Program for Research and Technological Development; member of the América Latina - Formación Académica programme (ALFA)
  • Member of several renowned international institutional exchange and cooperation networks:
  • Important annual student mobility : 2000 incoming foreign students (including 300 exchange students), 800 outgoing students (350 on study programmes and 450 on internship programmes)
  • Several initiatives aimed at improving awareness and the quality of reception reserved to incoming students and professors:
    • Use of credits for a better acknowledgement of study periods achieved abroad;
    • Accommodation service reserved for visiting professors and their family
    • International correspondants in each faculty
    • Personalised assistance for exchange students and researchers
