INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
The University of Rennes 1 has an eminent international affairs policy. The figures below illustrate this trend:
- Interuniversity bilateral agreements: 98 training and /or research bilateral agreements signed with foreign higher education institutions: Europe (27), North America (19), South America (9), Africa (23), Asia (15), the Near and Middle East (2)
- International joint research collaborations with research teams in Western Europe and North America
- Higher education mobility programmes: 180 Erasmus bilateral contracts (related to study and internship programmes), over 20 contracts within the Framework Program for Research and Technological Development; member of the América Latina - Formación Académica programme (ALFA)
- Member of several renowned international institutional exchange and cooperation networks:
- European University Association (EUA);
- Agence universitaire de la francophonie (AUF, University Agency for Francophonie);
- Conférence des recteurs et principaux des universités du Québec (CREPUQ, Conference of Rectors and Principals of Québec Universities);
- International Student Exchange Program (ISEP).
- Important annual student mobility : 2000 incoming foreign students (including 300 exchange students), 800 outgoing students (350 on study programmes and 450 on internship programmes)
- Several initiatives aimed at improving awareness and the quality of reception reserved to incoming students and professors:
- Use of credits for a better acknowledgement of study periods achieved abroad;
- Accommodation service reserved for visiting professors and their family
- International correspondants in each faculty
- Personalised assistance for exchange students and researchers
