Social welfare

The University of Rennes 1 has a team of social workers available to inform you about your rights and all the necessary steps as regards social welfare: scholarships, loans, housing, university dining, social security and welfare services, etc. Those services are mostly performed by the CROUS de Bretagne. The CROUS' other missions involve culture, job offers and reception of foreign students.

The University of Rennes 1 itself has also implemented several help systems for students:

  • exonération des droits d'inscription:
    • Who? Students facing social difficulties.
    • What? Exemption or reimbursement of the registration fees. This does not involve preventive medicine fees and student social security fees.
    • When? Application form to fill in by November 1st of the university year.
    • How? Go to your service de scolarité (administrative unit of your training department) to take an application form.

  • bourses de stage à l'étranger:
    • Who? Students of the University of Rennes 1 enrolled in a national diploma and willing to intern abroad.
    • What? Several kinds of scholarships: Ulysse, Télémaque, Cap Monde, Léonardo, Ministère de l'éducation nationale et de la recherche.
    • When? Several meetings each year. Please refer to the internships' website.
    • How? Application form to be downloaded or taken at the Espace Stage-Emploi (Internships and jobs department) of the SUIO.

  • bourses de formation à et par la recherche:
    • Who? Students in Master recherche or in Doctorat with insufficient income, aged less than 28 years (with a very few exceptions).
    • What? One-year renewable scholarships paid on students' accounts on a monthly basis and amounting to 945 euros at most.
    • When? Throughout the year.
    • How? Go to the service administratif de la recherche (research administration department) to take an application form.

  • bourses académiques de master, service public ou de préparation à l'agrégation:
    • Who? Master 2 students (Master recherche or Master professionnel), students preparing civil service examinations at the IPAG or ENM, students preparing for the Agrégation. Students are sorted according to their academic results.
    • What? Scholarships paid on students' accounts on a monthly basis. For Master 2 students, they amount to 3,953 euros a year, for Agrégation students to 4,263 euros a year and for students preparing civil service examinations, to 3,614 euros a year.
    • When? In September, at the beginning of every year.
    • How? Go to your service de scolarité (administrative unit of your training department) to take an application form.
